Overall Purpose Of The Role:

Reporting into the Creative Manager you will be responsible for providing professional web development solutions managing a web developer to ensure delivery of high quality web services to JLT UK.

The successful applicant will be able to work to tight deadlines and have responsibility for developing and documenting professional web based communciations.
Having worked in a corporate environment you will be experienced in dealing with colleagues at all levels within the business. You will also have experience of Intranet design and development as a corporate communications tool.

With a minimum of 4 years web development and hand coding experience, you will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and be adept in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with both internal and external clients.

JLT use a JSP based asset management and workflow system, successful integration and management of this system will be a primary responsibility.

This role will also have responsibility for managing the web development function including project management and the successful completion of major projects on behalf of the group.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:
# Educate to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent
# 4 years web development experience
# Expert-level knowledge of JSP, HTML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, and graphic design tools
# Full understanding of W3C standards, particularly with regard to the WAI and content creation
# Excellent written and oral communication skills
# Excellent time management and organisational skills
# Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
# Committed self-starter / Task completer / Team player

Desired:
# Training and project management experience
# Industry certifications and/or relevant degree
# Tomcat, ASP.NET, SQL, TSQL, XML, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, VB, VBA, Apache
# Experience of Strong Object Oriented design practices

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

Managing the web development function and working with graphic design experts to:
# Effectively manage the JLT UK web presence including 30+ websites and an extensive intranet. Provide proactive and innovative solutions that enhance JLT’s new media effectiveness.
# Ensure all sites adhere to web-related and e-commerce legislation, W3C standards for both coding and accessibility, and JLT’s Compliance and web presence guidelines
# Evaluate and analyse design tools, explore future technology standards and understand compatibility issues to provide JLT with an exciting and innovative web presence
# Maintain high standards for the quality, presentation, style and tone of all sites
# Provide effective site structure and graphical design, technical development and ongoing site maintenance
# Coach, mentor and advise departments on the ownership of their business unit intranet sites, including writing for the web, correct use of the content management system and effective communication techniques
# Ensure all updates are made in a timely manner and review dates maintained
# Promote effective internal communications through the use of the intranet
# Implement strategies to develop sites to W3C’s accessibility standards
# Project manage web tasks – from conceptual design, to development to implementation and maintenance.
# Ensure browser and multiple platform, functionality and accessibility testing is carried out to an agreed standard
# Create e-marketing material as and when required, including advice on appropriate strategies
# Management existing web sites, maintaining and if necessary, redesigning, to compliance and branding standards with aim of enhancing the site to increase effectiveness and usage
# Provide a search engine optimisation strategy
# Through use of interface design techniques provide fresh and interesting interfaces that encourage site penetration and enable simple understanding of JLT’s business.
